Welcome

A message from Steve our Rector

This May, we commemorate 80 years since VE Day,marking the moment when the devastating conflict in Europe finally came to an end. For millions, it was a day of joy and relief, as nations rejoiced in new found peace after years of suffering and loss. Yet while the fighting ceased, the deeper work of restoration and healing had only just begun.Communities had to rebuild, relationships had to bemended, and the scars of war took time to heal.

The Bible reminds us that peace ismore than just the absence of conflict—it is something we must actively pursue and protect. In Romans 12:18, Paul urges us, "If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all." Peace requires effort, humility, and grace, particularly when facing disagreements, divisions, or painful memories. It calls us to seek reconciliation rather than retaliation, to build bridges instead of barriers.

Likewise, 2Corinthians 13:11 exhorts us, "Be restored; encourage one another; live in peace; and theGod of love and peace will be with you." This verse is a powerful reminder that living in peace is not passive—it is an invitation to be transformed, to actively encourage and uplift one another, and to allow God's love to shape our actions.

As a worshipping community here at St Nicholas Bradwell, let us continue to deepen our understanding of what itmeans to follow Christ, building a church where peace, restoration, and encouragement shape everything we do.

We encourage one another to embrace the call to live out our faith with integrity and love, fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and supported.

If you are new to St Nicholas or are looking for a place to explore faith and community, we invite you to join us. Together, we seek to reflect Christ’s peace, share his love, and build a church that welcomes all.
